I'm a married work outside the home mom that loves to do crafts. I'm also a small business owner.

Angel S
I'm sure he's having a great time.
I've cleaned most of the morning but I'm going to take a hour to do nothing but rest & watch my craft shows. I'll do light cooking. G is nauseous, I convinced him to take the nausea medicine. No need in being nauseous if the medicine will help.

Chemo Friday
G was having side affects immediately so we didn't get to have lunch together or go see a movie;
as we had planned. I would like for us to go for chemo once & they not waste time looking for a double pump that works. Come on with the cost of chemo that place should be full of working equipment! OK vent over.
G has decided it's too difficult to work full time on chemo so he will work the one week a month that he has a break from chemo. It will be an economical set back but the most important thing is for him to get healthier.
Mom kept Colin while we were at chemo. Chemo took a few extra hours this time. My mom has had her hands full w/ my 99 yr old great great aunt. My aunt K, Colin's great aunt picked him up from my parents & took him to Chuck E Cheese to give mom a break. Colin had a fabulous time; he always does when he spends time w/ Aunt K. Thank you K you are an angel.

This Christmas
Hubby bought me the kitchen aid & attachments I've wanted for years. It's red so I'll exchange it; I didn't specified the color. I got other great gifts & appreciate them all.
I didn't take as many photos this year during the gift exchange. We took a lot of photos Christmas day. This is the first Christmas in yrs that my uncle K had joined us. The flash bulbs were flying.
Mom & others cooked a fabulous feast. I ate most of my favorite food & dessert.
I even had mom's pecan pie & cheesecake factory cheesecake my 2 all time favorites.

Thank you
I know it's day 12 for some still without power; hopefully our local crews will be able to restore them soon. I know many had damage to the boxes to their home & must get an electrician to repair it before power can be restored.
I saw on the news 56th St N was hard hit & still w/out power. There were power poles & trees all over. Hopefully they have power today.
Colin's school didn't have power Monday & we received a call Sunday night. I forgot to check the answer machine & didn't know they had school at a different location. Oops. He will go to school today & I don't think they have school tomorrow because of Christmas break.
He's really missing his little friends & wanted to play w/ his cousin. I hope he enjoys today; he won't see his friends again for weeks.
G is still really tired but doing OK at work. He just doesn't have much energy. Tomorrow he will get a break from the chemo medicine that is affecting him the worst. We are looking forward to the break.
I also wanted to say Thank you for the lovely & encouraging comments you guys leave on this blog. Thank you so much it means more than you know.

Grocery shopping
I got a great tip from hungry girl http://mygrocerydeals.com/ you type in your zip code & it shows great deals in your area. This is good for me because I don't get a sales papers from wild oats/whole foods that come in the mail. I love that you can check out the nutritional value (read the label) online. If you are allergic to an item; put it in your profile, the item will show up in red so you know to avoid it. You can click on the item to add it to a shopping list. Whoo hoo!

Back to work
Colin's gymnastics class was no show so the female gynmastics instructor & the male hip hop/break dance teacher taught him some moves. He has a great time until he started to overdo it & his asthma flared up.
When he spun on his head his teacher looked at me in disbelief. I've seen him do it too many times & it scares me every time. His teacher said you have no idea how hard it is to do that move.
They marvelled at his strength. Of course he showed off & did his one hand push ups & the push ups w/ the clap in between. He is quite proud that he can do them.
I'll enroll him in the beginning break dance class in January.

We have power!
I called my co-worker Doug, he offered to lend us his generator & told him we had power. Doug also came over & looked at the lemon generator we had bought & couldn't get to work. He smelled gas in the oil line; he think some seals were leaking. Thank you Doug PH!
We don't have cable. I'm glad I never switched to the bundle or we would be without phone & internet until who knows when.
We do have a DVR so little precious is watching DVR shows over & over.
We are watching movies on the computer, laptop & portable DVD player.
Hubby is watching his taped shows, he still VCR's shows.
I'm busy doing laundry & cleaning. I had to move all the furniture back.
We had rearranged to put the larges pieces in front of the fireplace.
Our home smells like a huge fireplace; but we have electricity!!
When I turned the corner not to far from our home I stopped & yelled a big Thank you to the guys working. I really wanted to give them a hug but didn't want to distract them from working. Some people are still waiting for power.
We got snow last night & it is cold. The streets aren't too bad.

Day 5 of no power
The bright side is there is power across the street from our home; so it's coming it's coming. My parents got power last night so we stayed there. My sister K got power late Wednesday night so last night she took the kids last night. I had the best night sleep in weeks.
Not having to wake up to add wood to the fireplace or make sure little one has covers. He loves to kick the covers off all night long until he gets really cold then he covers up.
I got a call from Marilyn they have power. She invited us over; she's such a sweetie. Thank you Marilyn & Susan (my co-worker) invited us over too.
We did a major happy dance when the power came on at my parents. Colin turned cartwheels. My 99 yr old great aunt never moved or said a word. When I asked her wasn't she happy she sd yeah in a very dull tone. It was funny. I ran outside to thank the workers; I didn't see any but I know someone heard me. I didn't yell too loud because my parents neighbors across the street still don't have power. Kinda of like in my neighborhood & my sister S. We don't have power but they do across the street.
I do want to send a shout out to all of the people working 18 hours days in the freezing cold to restore power. Thank you! 143,300 still without power but they are working hard to restore as much as they can as fast as possible.
I can't understand why the elderly assisted living is not on the priority list; they are still without power too. Hmmmm something not right about that priority list. Peoples economical level should not indicate their value. All people are valuable.
It's supposed to snow tonight. I like snow better than ice. I like sunshine better than snow. :)

Day 4
We bought a generator this morning for $1000.00.
G was sick most of the day & really sick at 3 am. He never complains.
School is out the rest of the week.

ice storm
None of us have power. I'm tired of this unplanned camping. My hubby is having side affects from the chemo & has to deal with being cold & in the dark. We did venture out for food & spent
a couple of hours in the mall yesterday.
Reading books & doing crafts with a 6 yr old by candle light is only fun for the first hour. Day 3 with no power. I want to whine & complain. Thank goodness we have a fireplace & had just bought 1/2 rick of wood. We are going through the wood pretty fast. Oh I don't want to think about all of the food we lost in the deep freezer.
We rearranged our furniture & are sleeping on the sofas in front of the fireplace. I'm getting very little sleep because the little one sleeps all over the place. If we can't find a hotel room tonight I'm going to drag out a mattress to sleep on.
Heating water up in the fireplace to sponge off was especially fun. Oh yeah I just talked to the power company; our power will not be on until Dec 18. They will teach us not to live in the wealthiest area of town. They lost power last & got it back on first. UGH!!!!! Over 200,000 homes lost their power. At this time 180,000 are still without power.
It could always be worse. A guy that works in our company grille, his home burned down & they lost everything. We do still have water; it's cold but we have water. This is a glimpse of what it was like during the pioneer days.
I've seen lots of children & even a dog at work today.

scared
I grateful it's not worse. Things can always be worse. I feel like I'm holding my breath & have my fingers crossed. Deep down I know everything will be OK. Some days it's deeper down than other days.

chemo meeting
G took C to school today. This is a huge help. I hate to talk about me but I'm worn out.
It's hard to work full-time & take care of everyone.
I watched the Oprah show on Eat Pray Love. I'm going to take some time for me & read the book. I'm tired of being sick & tired. I'm ready for crisis mode to be over.
C enjoyed his birthday yesterday. His class was thrilled that I brought mini cupcakes.
The parents like that they were mini cupcakes.
We went to J's piano recital last night. She's really good. Colin clapped hard for J but was
challenged during most of the recital. We arrived 20 min early. We were giving the wrong start time. I like for things to start on time & hate sitting & waiting around. Colin finds it hard to sit still too. During the second song by one of the girls playing he clasped his ears because it was loud then he whisper & asked me if I had any ear plugs. By the 3rd song he had adjusted to the volume. He fidgeted during most of the recital but he was quiet.

Happy Birthday
I think fun was had by all. I treated the children that attended the party to Incredible Pizza.
It would have been easier & cheaper to have the party at IP but I don't care that much for the food.
Our visit with oncologist went ok yesterday. There is a chemo class tomorrow & G starts chemo Friday. My company party is Friday night. We will miss it.
