Happy Birthday Colin!

I had no idea how having a child would change my life. I feel so blessed to be your mom. Many mornings I watch Colin sleeping; I think to myself what did I do to deserve such a wonderful gift.

We decide to forgo spending 300.00 on a birthday party. He invited 2 of his friend to go to Dave & Busters. Neither friend was able to make it so it was just me & Colin. G was feeling bad.

I'm grateful for such a happy child. He has blessed my life in ways I could not have imagined.

My favorite breakdancer

Colin has loved break dancing for years. He's had a great teacher & the teacher just opened a Dance Studio with his wife. We were hesitant in enrolling him because the cost of a private studio vs the park system was significant. I felt it was worth it so we are tightening the belt a little more. Hubby & I didn't think it was possible but I wanted him to be taught by Adam.

We went to the studio last night. Colin had no idea he had the same teacher; on the way to

practice he asked who was teaching the class. When I answered Adam, he said sweet. He had the biggest smile on his face.

We got to class I told him Colin may be rusty because he hadn't danced all summer.

At the end of the class I asked was he really rusty. Adam said I have been waiting for this day; he said he is maturing & he really listens. He said if he keeps listening to me; going at the rate he is, he will be one of my best students I've ever had. (Please ignore the bad grammar in my typing)

I was so proud. I can tell he's maturing too. We don't have the same battles with homework. He more easy going. He's always been a very happy child. I hope the year just keeps getting better.

Retreat results

I was so excited to go the the MN retreat this year. I look forward to my little get away from normal life & scrapping with good friends. I always have a wonderful time. This year was no exception. Thanks so much to my awesome friends Betsy & Shell. They share lots of items with me so I don't have to pack so much. Also because they are just super generously awesome women.
I did a lot of scrapping & Layouts. I scrapped about Halloween 2010 in Hilton Head Island, SC.
This LO with the bones in the tree took some time but Colin loved it; so very worth my time.
I tried to just have fun with some of the layouts. This was one of the fun ones.

Coconut Milk Ice Cream

Colin & I made coconut milk ice cream last night.
He hasn't had ice cream in 2 yrs. He's allergic to dairy, soy, nuts & other. I used to buy Rice Dream ice cream until I discovered it contained soy.

Colin has tolerate coconut oil pretty well. So far he's seemed to tolerate the coconut milk.
I made the ice cream with my kitchen aid ice cream attachment; I bought it for Colin for
Christmas 2009. It was so easy. I want to add coco powder & Enjoy life chocolate chips next
time.
I put a little chocolate syrup & Enjoy Life chocolate chips on top of his ice cream scoops for garnish. He was one happy little boy.

I got the recipe from a blog called noveleats.com/desserts/coconut-ice-cream/
Only 3 ingredients, very easy, very good.

things Colin says

Last night we were talking & he told me not to use reverse psychology. I asked if he knew what it meant. He said yes & explained it to me perfectly. I said I wish you would have done that well on you spelling word definitions this past school year. He said mom ... I think I embarrassed him.
During the school year he would do well on learning how to spell the words but he could not always write out the definitions to the words.

This morning he hands me a Gatorade 2 label to put in his scrapbook. He said it had Black History on it. There are 2 photos of Serena Williams on the label.

I'm debating if I'm going to the Gem Faire. I call it Bead Fair last year I went with my Sister S & it was fun. Of course I have used a single bead I bought last year yet.

This year S is unavailable & I'm not sure I want to go by myself. I don't mind shopping alone, she is more aware of a good deal on beads & gems. She makes jewelry all the time. I'm not as experienced.
I think I will go; even if I just look, it's great exercise. It's a ton of walking.

I love Oprah

I'm so sad that it's just a few shows left. To meet or attend the Oprah show was on my bucket list. :( It does encourage me to get busy on that bucket list. I'm not getting any younger. :)
I still have the dream left that I can one day meet her or be interviewed by her. She always says to dream big. Oh, I have very big dreams & I believe in miracles!

The show could ease up with the counting down numbers. Also do they have to play So long, farewell, auf wiedersehen, good night song from the Sound of Music children. Yesterday they showed the clips of the Mary Tyler Moore show last min., Mash last min, The Cosby Show & ...
They are making me too sad.
I'll have an extra 40 min a day that I now watch the Oprah show. I usually DVR it & fast forward through the commercials. I guess now I can do something productive around my home or scrapbook. We shall see.

I wonder the guest of the final show. One comedian joked Jesus & John Travolta will fly the plane. I think it's cool Mr. President Obama asked to be on one of the last shows. If you want to see it it's Oprah's Farewell Countdown: Video 18. I'm watching them all in a row. Now I'm watching Video 19 Royal Wedding. Uh didn't really watch this show. I was so over the whole Royal Wedding the day the show aired. I think the media just milked that cow too much. Ok bored myself enough. Back to the videos. My husband calls Oprah my Shero. LOL Isn't the word really heroine (female hero). I'm already watching the OWN network & can't wait to see Oprah fly in her next endeavor. Love you Oprah!

3rd Snow day

We are snowed in for the 3rd day. Day 1 was fun, Day 2 kind of cool. Day 3 -Get me out of this house. There is snow up to our windows. If I got out the drive way I don't think I would make it very far on this street. My boss texted me to ask the closest main streets. I texted him back & didn't hear back from him. Honestly they is no way I could get to the closest main streets unless I had a ski outfit & skis. It's too freaking cold to walk beside the fact I would need some of those deep sea fishing boots.
Colin school sent plenty of homework they knew school would be out the rest of the week. He has played on his games, computer games & watched TV. We are all ready to get out of the house. It's too cold to build a snowman.
Colin just asked me what type of games did I play on the computer when I was a little girl.
LOL I was out of college before I owned my first computer & it was thousands of dollars.
G is still sleeping.
